Music From Egypt + Sudan (2): Presented by MARSM UK, this is part of a new captivating musical showcase in the heart of London to celebrate Egypt's and Sudan’s most vibrant and inspiring artists. A journey from traditional folklore to alternative rock, retro-pop to roots and more. For this segment and for the first time Dina El Wedidi (Egypt) and Rasha (Sudan), two established and well known singers, will be sharing the stage. El Wedidi's songs are infused with the political concerns of Egypt. She has worked as a singer and actress with the El Warsha Theatre Troupe, exploring Egyptian folklore and performing in such unlikely places as a Cairo prison; and, later, she performed classical Arabic songs with the Habayebna band, before establishing her own band in 2011. Whilst Rasha's acclaimed album 'Sudaniyat' is set primarily by the oud and percussion, with backing guitar and bass that magnificently accentuate Rasha's vocal skills across Arabic poetry, sufi music and hints of reggae. Taking place on 6 February, 2016 at Islington Assembly Hall - Upper Street London, England N1 2UD GB.
