Ahmed Mukhtar & Veles Ensemble: Ahmed Mukhtar, the Iraqi musician, composer and founding director of the Taqasim Music School, will be performing as part of the London Strings Festival with the Veles Ensemble. The Veles Ensemble will open the evening of contrast with a true classic, Beethoven's String Trio Op. 9 No.1 in G-major, that is often considered to be one of Beethoven's most important early works.

Oud Night, with Rihab Azar: In collaboration with Taqasim Music School, the ALEF bookstore will host a special 'Oud Night' with Rihab Azar, a Syrian oud player and teacher. Azar studied at the Damascus Conservatoire where she taught music theory upon graduation. She was also the first female oudist to solo-perform accompanied by the National Orchestra of Arabic Music (2014) and was the oud player of the Syrian Female Oriental Takht between 2006-2015, where she performed on national and international stages.
Taqasim Music School Open Day: At the Arab British Centre (ABC), the Taqasim Music School will run an open day to give prospective students the chance to discuss their musical interests with the teachers for courses beginning in May. Both theory and instrumental practices will be demonstrated, including an explanation of the teaching methods used, the nature of the courses and suitability of the student to the requested musical instrument. Attendees will have the chance to be assessed on their level and musical ability and you can also bring your instrument to have it asses

Oud Courses (Arab British Centre): Presented by the Arab British Centre (ABC) and Taqasim Music School. Under the direction of Iraqi Oud Master Ahmed Mukhtar, both theory and instrumental courses are taught by professional musicians on a regular basis. The aim is to provide affordable access to the music heritage of the Middle-East and promoting dialogue between music cultures. Beginners and Intermediate levels from 13 September-15 November, 2014.
Arabic Music Intensive Summer Course: An introductory course at the Arab British Centre (ABC) with Taqasim Music School. Students will learn some of the main Arabic maqams, rhythms and musical forms, accompanied with historical and cultural information and a final performance following tuition. Course dates from 4 August-8 August.
Oud Instrument Course with Taqasim Music School, at The Arab British Centre (ABC): Learn to play the Oud instrument and acquire a beginner's knowledge of the fundamental techniques and characteristics of the Magam music system. From 11 January-15 March, 2014, course will be held on Saturday afternoons at the Arab British Centre, 1 Gough Square, London EC4A 3DE. Note: The Taqasim Music School launched in March 2011 to provide education on Middle Eastern music culture, under the direction of Iraqi Oud Master Ahmed Mukhtar.
